Where a 200 x 300cm rug works

At 2 metres by 3 metres, this is a generous rug for a medium to large living room. Laid lengthways in front of a sofa, it runs past both ends of a three seater and leaves space for a chair or a side table on the rug as well. In an open plan room it marks out the seating area from the kitchen or dining space without a wall.

With a corner sofa

An L-shaped or corner sofa looks best with a rug that reaches under both sections. Measure along each arm of the sofa, then check that the front legs of both sections will sit on the rug. A 200 x 300cm rug works when the long side of the sofa is shorter than 3 metres.

Dining rooms

A table for six is often around 180cm long. Under it, a 300cm rug gives about 60cm at each end, which is enough for chairs to be pulled out without catching the edge.

Bedrooms

Placed across the lower two thirds of a double or king bed, it frames the bed with a wide border of rug on three sides.

Styles
