An electric standing desk lets you switch between sitting and standing at the press of a button. Most here go from about 72cm up to between 115cm and 120cm, which covers most adults sitting and standing. Memory buttons save two, three or four favourite heights, so you're not holding the button down every time.

Desktop size is the main decision. A 100 x 60cm top fits one monitor and a laptop in a box room. 120 x 60cm is the usual all-rounder, and 140cm to 160cm tops take two monitors side by side. Check the load limit on the listing too. Ours are typically rated for 70kg to 80kg, which covers a normal setup with room to spare.

The range also has desk converters that sit on top of your existing desk, frames without a top, and pneumatic mobile desks on wheels. Most arrive flat packed with the tools included.
