A folding mattress gives you a spare bed that packs away into a wardrobe or under a bed when nobody is staying. Most here are tri-folds: three foam sections inside one cover, so it opens flat in seconds and folds back into a block about a third of its length.

Thickness matters most. 10cm is fine for a night or two, for kids' sleepovers, or on top of a bed base. For an adult staying a week, or for anyone sleeping on a hard floor, go for 15cm. Some have a memory foam top layer, and several have covers that zip off for washing.
