Where a 200 x 290cm rug works

A 200 x 290cm rug suits a living room where the furniture sits around the rug rather than behind it. A three seater sofa is often a little over 2m long, so a 290cm rug runs past each end and leaves room for an armchair on the side. Aim to have at least the front legs of every seat on the rug.

Dining rooms and bedrooms

Under a dining table, the rug should reach about 60cm past the table on every side, so the chairs stay on it when pulled out. That makes a 200 x 290cm rug a good fit for a rectangular table for four to six. In a bedroom, laid across the bed, it leaves a strip of about 70cm each side of a king size bed.
