How a TV stand on wheels works
A mobile TV stand is a steel pole on a wide base, with a bracket that bolts to the back of your TV. Most have four castors, and some or all of them lock. Release the locks to move the screen from the living room to a bedroom or a meeting room, then set them again so it stays put. A TV floor stand works the same way but sits on a fixed base, which suits a corner or a rented home where you can't drill into the wall.
Check three things before you order
- Screen size. Each stand gives a range, such as 32 to 75 inches. Your TV should sit inside it.
- Weight. Load limits on these stands run from about 25kg to over 100kg. Look up your TV's weight without its own feet and leave some margin.
- VESA pattern. These are the four screw holes on the back of the TV, for example 200 x 200mm or 400 x 400mm. The stand's VESA range has to include yours. You'll find the pattern in your TV manual or on a sticker on the back.
Height, tilt and shelves
Most stands adjust in height, and many tilt the screen up or down by a few degrees. Some swivel left and right, and a few rotate the screen from landscape to portrait. A media shelf for a games console, soundbar or laptop is common. Stands for very large screens often add a second shelf or a camera mount on top.
