Laundry Baskets & Hampers (19 products)

Choosing a laundry basket

A good laundry basket keeps the floor clear and makes wash day quicker. The baskets here run from about 30 litres for a small bathroom up to 300 litre sorters for a busy family, so start with how much washing your house makes in a week.

Sorters with two or more sections

Double and triple hampers let you split whites, colours and darks as you go. The bags in many sorters lift out, so you can carry one load straight to the machine. Larger units with five sections and a shelf on top suit a utility room.

Tilt out hampers

A tilt out hamper looks like a small cabinet. The front door tips open to show a basket or bag inside, so the washing stays out of sight. Bamboo versions suit a bathroom, and a double tilt out cabinet holds two loads.

Hampers with a seat

Some hampers have a padded or wooden lid you can sit on, which helps in a bedroom or a bathroom where you need somewhere to sit while you dress. Check the weight limit on the listing before you use one as a stool.

Materials

Wood and bamboo look smart and last well. Fabric baskets are light and fold flat when not in use. A steel frame adds strength for heavy loads of towels. Look for a removable bag if you like to wash the lining now and then.
