Buying a bed or mattress online is simple once you know the sizes. Ireland uses the same standard sizes as the UK, so here's a quick reference to help you choose the right fit.
Standard sizes
- Single — 3'0" (90 × 190 cm): ideal for children's rooms and box rooms.
- Small Double — 4'0" (120 × 190 cm): a great compromise for guest rooms or smaller doubles.
- Double — 4'6" (135 × 190 cm): the most popular size for couples in a standard room.
- King — 5'0" (150 × 200 cm): extra width and length for a more spacious sleep.
- Super King — 6'0" (180 × 200 cm): the most generous standard size — luxurious if you have the room.
Measure your room first
Leave at least 60–70 cm around the bed so you can walk and make it comfortably. Don't forget to check that the bed will fit up your stairs and through doorways before you order.
Match the mattress
