I bought them intending to use them as bookshelves though, and my immediate concern was whether they would hold the weight of books. Like I said, they are not engineered wood which is already a huge in their favor, but unlike my definite teak shelves, these are make of thinner pieces of wood, and not reinforced. In fact, the wood slats are thinner than any of the bamboo shelves I have—and those are also reinforced. Keep in mind: they are NOT being advertised as bookshelves, but if they were teak I should still be able to use them that way. However my research indicates mindi is less sturdy tha
