In the past we have had to pay someone to fix them because we didn't have the kit to do it, but now we do.

For SMD assembly
I bought this so I could assemble some small SMD PCBs. The handle is large but light weight and the wiring is flexible so it was easy to get the hot air where I wanted it. It gets rapidly upto temperature and the air flow is easily controlled. For this operation it is a bit easy to blow the components off the board but by holding it vertically this problem is mitigated. Board assembly went well and is working fine.
Fantastic rework station for the price
No problems at all desoldering large BGA chips. It heats up and cools down quickly and has a decent airflow.
It's OK for the money
Works for most things, but I do not think its really 700W of power, or it doesn't feel like it. PCBs with a large ground planes cannot be touched, unless you are willing to wait a long time for the PCB to saturate with heat and even then forget about working with bigger chips.
A Great Heat Gun At A Reasonable Price!
To place them, I first put solder paste on the pads, place the components, then heat them using either just the hot plate or a combination of hot plate and hot air gun. Works great, works fast, and the boards look much cleaner and neater compared to the results of just using an iron. Also, much less risk of frying a component.
