Yes, the stairs are steel!
I was concerned that, despite all the product claims by the manufacturer, the stairs on this step ladder would be plastic or use some kind of plastic fastener that can break. I have a scar from one of those step-ladders. This step-ladder has 100% steel stairs, braces, and connectors, and it will support your weight and frequent use. The only plastic and synthetic rubber parts are trim, padding, and supporting feet to make the unit even more stable.
