5 Star Ice Cream, 5 Star Machine - You Won't Get Better
I would say that if your looking to buy an ice cream maker, you won't go far wrong with the Cuisinart ICE30. It is probably the most expensive freezer bowl ice cream maker you can by, but to me I think it's worth it. It's not plasticky in the slightest, and you'll never have any problems attaching the lid or the churn arm. Plus it comes with a 5 year guarantee, whereas most come with only a 1 year guarantee.
Makes superb ice cream, although be mindful of a few things.....
Overall, this is a great ice cream maker. The mechanism itself is surprisingly simple (i.e. the device is basically just a large motor that spins round the pre-frozen tub - more on this later) and the ice cream itself is far superior to anything shop bought. Despite having bought some books on ice cream making, so far we've only tried the recipes in the supplied instruction book, and these have all been great. The basic vanilla is superb, the chocolate recipe (that requires melting chocolate beforehand) is heavenly, and the strawberry (including fresh strawberries in the recipe) is by far the
The Best
I haven't tried any of the recipes from the instruction booklet - I mainly use recipes from the Ben & Jerry book, modified a little to my taste. But they don't look very convenient to use. I buy double cream by the pint and it doesn't keep well, so it's best if the recipe is designed to use exactly a pint of cream. Whether you end up with 2 litres of ice cream or a little less doesn't matter so much. These recipes have all kinds of strange quantities - presumably designed to exactly fill the available capacity of the ice cream maker. But that's my only complaint and it's easily solved - just b
Great little product
Dairy free and was struggling to find vegan ice cream. It works really well and makes delicious ice cream. It works so well that my husband has also been making regular ice cream which he says is great. It make about 1/2 a tub (Ben and Jerry’s sizes). You do need to freeze what you have made for a couple of hours after as it starts as quite soft serve, this may just be due to using dairy free ingredients. My only comment is that is it quite loud, but for the price I can’t complain.
