The unit is well made, quite tough with a thick plastic base and top cover. The cover extends up on a firm telescopic arm and stays in place perfectly. The base has a cover with holes for putting the conical filters and plug plants in to. This can be removed to see the water reservoir underneath and the small water pump. You get plant food, to add, as required.
